Lasering is often done in combination with facelifts and eyelid lifts. However, it can be performed as a separate procedure to polish and tighten the facial skin. The first objective of lasering is to rid one of small creases and irregularities of the lips, chin, and multiple areas of the face. Deep grooves, especially of the lip, may be improved but they cannot be completely eliminated.

Depending upon the total area to be lasered, either general anesthesia or local anesthesia will be used. Recovery time for the laser may be longer than one thinks. Oozing and crusting occur over 4 - 7 days followed by redness in the areas operated. Usually, with makeup, one can return to work in two weeks. However the discoloration, decreasing gradually, will remain for several months.
